What does your address result mean?
Guidance updated · Historical address data unchanged
This lookup searches an older list of addresses associated with city-owned lead service lines. It provides historical evidence, not a fresh inspection of the pipes at your property.
If your address matches
The address was listed as having a lead city-owned service line in the historical records used by this site. The line may have been replaced since the list was compiled. Milwaukee’s ongoing replacement work is a reason to check the current record, not to treat a historical match as proof that lead remains.
Open the City’s current address checker and confirm both portions of the service line. For addresses served by another municipality, contact the applicable water utility.
If there is no match
For addresses covered by the original list, no match indicates that the city-owned service line was not listed as lead when the records were compiled. That is useful historical information; it is not a statement about every pipe in the building.
Check the house number, street spelling, direction, municipality, and any filters you entered. A failed address match or an address outside the original coverage cannot be interpreted the same way as a correctly matched address absent from a comprehensive list. The original list’s exact date and completeness have not been independently established here.
Which pipes does the historical list describe?
The original site described the city-owned portion. It does not establish the materials of homeowner-owned service pipes, interior plumbing, fixtures, or solder. A service-line record is also not a water-quality test.
Material records and replacement records answer different questions
A material inventory describes what a source reports about a pipe. A replacement record describes work performed. To say a line was replaced, we need an address-specific source identifying the work, its scope, and, when available, its completion date. Planned work is not completed work.
No newer address or replacement records have been imported into this site. We do not mark an address replaced merely because it disappears from another list. Address-specific replacement details will appear only when supported by a reviewed source.
